Bringing the Outside inside - House dining and seating area with wood pavilion The value of having a beautiful outdoor space while enjoying the comforts of being indoors can’t be overstated.
Outdoor kitchens (complete with pizza ovens), fire pits, and conversation areas are really top of homeowners’ minds this year.

Having a two-sided fireplace that can be enjoyed indoors or outdoors, backyard kitchens, pergolas and gazebos are just some of the ways you can extend your enjoyment with family and friends during the summer months.
A covered porch or veranda is another way to enjoy outdoor space. With this, you can leave your furniture out all year round, have shade from the sun, or watch a thunderstorm roll by. There are many ways to maximize the summer months!

Renovation on my home – Kitchen Islands- Bigger is Better

Large modern kitchen with large island and lots of storage“Do you enjoy cooking alone in your kitchen while your guests are seated in another room? Don’t we all want to partake in conversation with friends and family while preparing that special meal?”
Having a bigger island provides a large work surface allowing several people to participate in meal preparation. It also offers alternative seating for family and friends and creates extra storage for cooking equipment and specialty space such as wine racks.

“Having a large island not only solves space issues but also creates a beautiful focal point in your kitchen to enjoy and be proud of,” suggests Aquilino. “Re-configuring the existing living space is one way to create the desired area needed for a large kitchen island. An addition to your house is another alternative solution to extend your space.”

I would like to do a renovation on my home. Where do I start?

Partners: Aquilino Naccarato and Richard Plamondon

Research and find a good Renovator. CHBA Edmonton or RenoMark are great resources. An experienced Renovator should follow a set process. This process at Ackard begins with a site visit with the client to get a true understanding of the scope of the project. Both you and the Renovator should be asking a lot of questions. The design team will then go over the client’s renovation goals and an estimator will put together a budget. Once the customer approves the proposed plan, 3D renderings are produced to show clients a conceptual example of what their new home or space will look like. Interior design options are reviewed and finishings are chosen. The renovator should work diligently with clients to produce a final product that is timely and within their budget. Ackard strives to follow this process to deliver the results you will love.
